Recycled Glass Beads by the Krobo of Ghana
|
In the small tropical village of Agomenya, Ghana, a new type of glass is being created by men and women of Krobo tribe, long famous for their powdered glass beads. The new technique uses broken bottles, colored glass plates, and window glass for this recycled product. The glass is broken into small pieces, placed in handmade ceramic molds, and then fired in a wood fired kiln, then removed to make the holes for the beads, and fired again. |
